David Raymond Lubenow

After a three-year battle with cancer, David Raymond Lubenow went to be with the Lord on October 26^th, 2020. Dave had an intense love of music, space travel, astronomy, sailing, and science fiction. Dave was a founding member of the Grand Rapids based music group Horsefeather, something for which he was extremely proud. He played with the group throughout the 70’s and 80’s. And was always ready to recall his many memories and adventures. Dave had done many things in his life but was always a musician first. Dave had an excellent memory. He loved to share stories of the many lifelong friends he had gathered and shared a big love for everyone in his life. He never forgot a friend. Dave was always quick with a joke and a warm smile and those who were lucky enough to know him will feel his loss and know their lives were brighter because of his friendship. Dave was preceded in death by his mom and dad, Raymond and Julia Lubenow.

He is survived by his sisters, LaVonne (David) Householder, Linda (Cliff) Wiemer, Peggy (Dan) McDaniel; brothers, Scott (Colleen) Lubenow, Kurt (Debbie) Lubenow; many nieces and nephews; his adopted granddaughter Ivy Jean; his special friends Dawn Fynewever, Bob Schader, Warren Jackson and Mark Swanson, and many other friends.

We would like to thank Faith Hospice for all they have done for Dave. Especially his nurse Mandy and social worker Haley for all their love and support. They were God’s hands and feet and God’s heart extended to Dave this year. He loved the times he was able to spend with them. A celebration of life will be held at the gravesite on his birthday on November 6^th, 2020 with immediate family and a few friends.
