Carol May (Warner) Ballard, age 82, left her earthly burdens behind her on Saturday, April 20, 2019. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, John Ballard; their children, David Surfus, John Ballard, Julia (Terry) Flores, Teresa Ballard, and Ron Angelocci, Michael Steven (Stacey) Ballard, Kathleen (Timothy) Disselkoen; grandchildren, Christopher Surfus, Benjamin Lethcoe, Bradley Flores, Brian Flores, Amanda Flores, Jack Ballard, Georgia Ballard, Evan Ballard, Gabriel Disselkoen, Jocelyn Disselkoen, Truman Disselkoen; great grandchildren Sophia Rose Lethcoe, Tyler Kole, and Owen Kole; as well as her dear sister, Gerry Jensen. Carol was born and raised in Muskegon Michigan, and a very proud resident of Kentwood for over 50 years. Carol leaves behind her a tremendous legacy of love in the lives of all those who were blessed to have known her. In spite of – or perhaps because of – her own struggles; it was her soft voice, small kindnesses, her sweetness, indefatigable spirit, and lilting laugh that defined her. By her patient efforts, and her consistent example; her strength, her stories, and her memory live on. Per her wishes, no memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Carol’s name to Heart of West Michigan United Way.
